Jennie Finch

The 2020 Olympics were set to take place in July, but due to the Coronavirus outbreak have now been postponed until the summer of 2021. Scheduled to take place in Tokyo, the Olympics was going to add several new events which include surfing, skateboarding, rock wall climbing, and karate. Baseball and softball were set to return for the first time since the 2008 Beijing Games. Perhaps the most recognizable softball player is American Jennie Finch.

Finch played college ball at Arizona where she dominated the competition all four years. Finch led the Wildcats to the NCAA tournament all four years, and making it to the College World Series every time. Finch led the Cats to victory in the 2001 College World Series.

As a member of Team USA, Finch led the American squad to victory in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, claiming Gold. In 2008, Finch and the American team claimed Silver in Beijing. Finch retired from the sport in 2010.

Don’t expect the soon-to-be 40 year-old Finch to compete for Team USA in next year’s Olympic Games. We will, However, look forward to the next star of the game.
