Maya Moore

Maya Moore is an American basketball player. She’s 32 years-old. She went to college at the University of Connecticut. She won two national championships. She competes professionally in the WNBA. She has been WNBA Finals MVP and WNBA MVP. She has a total of four WNBA championships. Moore also competed for the U.S. Women’s Basketball Team at the Olympics and the FIBA Basketball World Championships.

Maya Moore began her playing career at the University of Connecticut where she played for the Division-One basketball team. In her freshman season, Moore was part of a Huskies team that went 36-2 in the 2007/08 season. It was the best regular season record for UConn since the 2004 Final Four squad. She was Big East Player of the Year and Big East Freshman of the Year. In her sophomore season, the Huskies went undefeated in the regular season. Moore was again named Big East Player of the Year. The Huskies would go on to win the NCAA Championship, with Moore averaging 22.2 points-per-game in the tournament. In Moore’s junior season, the Huskies went undefeated again and went on to repeat as NCAA Champions. Moore earned several individual awards throughout her college career. In 2009, she won the AP College Player of the Year, the Wooden Award, and the Naismith College Player of the Year Award. In 2011, she won all three awards again. She also won Big East Player of the Year three times (2008, 2009, 2011). She finished her college career in 2011. She played in 154 games and scored 3,036 points.

Maya Moore was selected as the number one overall pick for the Minnesota Lynx in the 2011 WNBA Draft. Moore won WNBA Rookie of the Year in 2011. She is a six-time WNBA All-Star (2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018) and she was All-Star Game MVP in 2015, 2017, and 2018. Moore was WNBA MVP in 2014. Moore has won 4 WNBA Championships in her career (2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017). She was Finals MVP in 2013. Moore was also the WNBA scoring leader in 2014, and WNBA steals leader in 2018.

In addition to her success in the WNBA, Maya Moore has played for the U.S. Women’s Basketball Team at the Olympics and the FIBA World Championships. Team USA won Gold at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. They won Gold at the 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Championships.

Beginning in 2019, Maya Moore took a break in playing and has instead volunteered her time towards ministry work and being an advocate for criminal justice reform.
