Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark is an American basketball player. She’s 20 years-old. She plays college basketball at the University of Iowa. Clark was a McDonald’s All-American in high school. Clark has also played for the United States under-16 and under-19 teams.

Caitlin Clark was born in Des Moines, Iowa on January 22, 2002. She attended Dowling Catholic High School and played on the varsity basketball team all four years. She led Dowling Catholic to the state quarterfinals in each of her first two seasons, and led Dowling Catholic to the state semifinals in her junior season. Dowling Catholic advanced to the 5A regional final in her senior season. Clark scored 60 points in a game on February 4, 2019 against Mason City High School as part of a 90-78 victory. This was the second most points scored in a single game in Iowa state high school basketball history. She averaged 33.4 points per game in her senior season at Dowling Catholic High School. Clark finished with 2,547 career points in high school. Clark was selected to compete in the McDonald’s All-American Game following her high school graduation in 2020, but the game was canceled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Caitlin Clark was a highly sought after recruit out of high school. She chose to commit to the University of Iowa, while also having received scholarship offers from Iowa State and Notre Dame. Clark had a dominant freshman season. She made her college debut on November 25, 2020 where she put up 27 points in a 96-81 win over the University of Northern Iowa. She set a freshman record for points per game at 26.6. It was the 4th highest points per game average in a single season in Iowa history. Clark was the NCAA Division One scoring leader in the 2020/21 season. Clark was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year. She received Co-National Player of the Year Honors with Paige Beckers of the University of Connecticut. The Hawkeyes received a bid to the 2021 NCAA Tournament. They lost in the Sweet 16. Clark turned the heat up in her sophomore season. She recorded her 1,000th career point in her 40th career game. She set the record for fastest Big Ten women’s basketball player to reach that mark. Clark’s achievement marked just the 2nd time a Division One women’s player in the 21st century hit 1,000 career points in 40 games or less. Elena Delle Donne did it in 38 games at the University of Delaware. Clark won the Big Ten Player of the Year. The Hawkeyes won the regular season Big Ten Title, and later won the Big Ten Tournament Title. The Hawkeyes qualified for the 2022 NCAA Tournament. They lost to Creighton in the 2nd round. Clark won the Dawn Staley Award in 2021 and 2022. She won the Nancy Lieberman Award in 2022.

Caitlin Clark has played for the United States at junior level competitions. She helped the U.S. win Gold at the FIBA Americas Under-16 Championships in 2017. She was on the U.S. teams that won Gold at the FIBA Under-19 World Cup in 2019 and 2021.

Caitlin Clark took the country by storm in the 2021/22 season in the absence of UConn’s Paige Bueckers. With Bueckers set to miss another season due to injury, Clark will have the chance to once again lead the college basketball world. We’ll all be there for the ride.
