Keith Yandle

Keith Yandle is an American professional hockey player. He’s 35 years-old. He competes in the National Hockey League. He has played for the Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes, New York Rangers, Florida Panthers, and the Philadelphia Flyers. Yandle has also played for the United States hockey team.

Keith Yandle had an interesting junior career. He originally planned on playing collegiate hockey at the University of New Hampshire where he would have been teammates with his brother, but bad grades in high school led to him being denied admittance into the University of New Hampshire. He announced his verbal commitment to play hockey for the University of Maine, but he opted not to play there, instead choosing to play in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He scored 25 goals for the Moncton Wildcats. The Wildcats won the President’s Cup as the QMJHL champions. They lost in the finals of the Memorial Cup to the Quebec Ramparts. Yandle won the Emile Bouchard Trophy and the Telus Cup. He was also the Canadian Hockey League Defenseman of the Year.

Keith Yandle was drafted in the 4th round by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2005 NHL Draft. He made his debut for the Coyotes on October 11th, 2006. He was an NHL All-Star in 2011 and 2012. He helped lead the Coyotes to the Western Conference Finals in 2012, where they ultimately lost to the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings would go on to win the Stanley Cup that year. The Phoenix Coyotes changed their name to the Arizona Coyotes in 2014. On November 12th, 2014 Yandle played in his 400th consecutive game for the Coyotes, which is the second longest streak in franchise history. He was traded to the New York Rangers on March 1st, 2015.

Keith Yandle helped lead the Rangers to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2015. They lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Rangers made the playoffs in 2016, but lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins. On June 20th, 2016 the Rangers traded Yandle’s contract rights to the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers signed him to a 7-year $44.45 million contract.

Keith Yandle began playing for the Panthers starting in the 2016/17 NHL season. On January 14th, 2018 Yandle played in his 676th consecutive game. He was an NHL All-Star in 2019. He played in his 1,000th NHL game on March 7, 2021. The Panthers bought out his contract on July 15th, 2021. He later signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Keith Yandle played for the Philadelphia Flyers during the 2021/22 season. On January 25th, 2022 Yandle played in his 965th consecutive game. This set a NHL record for longest consecutive games played streak. He eventually ended the streak at 989 consecutive games played.
