Kate Martin

Kate Martin is a former college basketball player. She’s 23 years-old. She’s 6 feet tall. Martin played for the University of Iowa. She is a native of Edwardsville, Illinois. Martin was drafted in the second round of the 2024 WNBA draft.

Kate Martin was born on June 5, 2000 in Edwardsville, Illinois. She played basketball for Edwardsville High School. In four seasons, Martin led Edwardsville to four regional titles, one state runner-up, and an impressive 122-6 record. Martin was named First-Team All-State in her senior season. Martin also played for the Edwardsville volleyball team. In four years, Martin led the volleyball team to 108 wins, 2 Southwestern Conference titles, 2 regional championships, and a sectional championship. Martin received division one basketball scholarship offers from Bradley, Depaul, Illinois, St. Louis, and Wisconsin before eventually accepting a scholarship to play for Iowa.

Kate Martin missed her entire freshman season at Iowa due to an ACL injury. She eventually helped lead the Hawkeyes to the National Championship Game in her fifth year of eligibility at Iowa in 2023 where they lost to LSU. Martin received an extra year of eligibility due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and decided to return to Iowa for a sixth season. Iowa made it back to the National Championship Game in 2024 but they lost to an undefeated South Carolina team, thus finishing runner-up in back-to-back seasons. Martin won the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in three consecutive seasons from 2021-2023. After using up all of her college basketball eligibility, Martin announced her decision to enter the WNBA draft.

Kate Martin was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2024 WNBA draft by the Las Vegas Aces.
